What Happens During a Treatment
The
initial consultation and short treatment lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. I
will ask you about your current symptoms, what treatment you have
received, your medical history, your diet, digestive system, sleeping
patterns and emotional state. If you are seeking treatment for a
physical and muscular condition, I may conduct a brief physical
examination. I will also feel your pulses on both wrists and look
at your tongue. You will have the opportunity to ask me questions
and to decide whether you want treatment. If you wish to proceed, I
insert very fine needles into the body. The acupuncture
points used are not always close to the part of the body where you
experience the problem. For example, although you might suffer
from headaches, needles may be inserted in your foot or hand. The
needles are kept in for about 20 minutes, whilst you relax. I
then remove the needles and the treatment is concluded.
You may need to undress, keeping your underwear on, depending on which
areas of your body I will be treating. I will leave you to
undress in private and give you towels to cover your body. I will
remove towels during treatment only to gain access to the area I am
needling. You are welcome to have someone with you throughput
your consultation and treatment. All consultations are completely
confidential.
Frequency and length of treatment depends on your individual
condition. Some change is usually felt after five treatments,
although occasionally only one or two treatments are required.
Follow up treatments usually last 45mins.
