Support through IVF I use acupuncture
programmes to support natural conception, women and men’s health and
Western fertility treatment such as IVF, IUI and ICSI.
The success rates for IVF conception are usually between 20-30% depending on the fertility clinic. Western and Chinese research has shown that acupuncture can positively influence the pregnancy rate in patients who undergo Assisted Reproduction Therapy (ART). A recent study in Germany showed that couples undergoing IVF treatment supported by acupuncture achieved a 42.5% success rate, compared to 26.3% for those women not receiving acupuncture. What treatment would I need? Before
IVF: Preparation for IVF and fertility treatment can begin for the
couple several months prior to Western fertility treatment. If
both partners adopt a preconception healthcare programme, it is
possible to improve the health of the egg. Even a six week course
of acupuncture can help the body prepare for IVF treatment. In
the male partner acupuncture is used to improve sperm quality, count
and volume and for erectile dysfunction.
During IVF: Weekly acupuncture is advised during IVF and fertility treatment and especially before embryo transfer to increase blood flow to the uterus, making the body more receptive to the embryo transfer and ovaries. Post embryo acupuncture is recommended to relax the uterus so that it does not reject the egg. |
